I've been reading a lot of ebooks on my iPhone, to my great surprise. It's comfortable to hold, always with me, and I enjoy the instant gratification of buying books at any hour of the night or day with immediate delivery. But the Kindle reader will never work for me until at very least it's able to read in landscape mode. For now it's a total waste to me, even when ebooks from Amazon would be cheaper than other options. If Amazon wants this app to work on iPhone, they need to see what Stanza and eReader (especially Stanza) are doing with their iPhone apps. The different lighting and machine from the Kindle requires more than just text on the page.

Paid Microsoft propagandist David Kaufman commented: "Who wants to read a book on that piddly little iPhone screen?

And isn’t the iPhone really for fun yet mindless apps, like “Fart Bomb”?"

The eReader app already lets you purchase books directly, though it does redirect you to their mobile site in Safari to do so. I haven't purchased any books that way yet (still have plenty that I had previously purchased on fictionwise.com, which eReader also accesses), but the mobile site seems perfectly effective at a glance.

Every time I read an article about the iPhone or an iPod I think about a post on www.ProudlyMadeInAmerica.com that showed the fallacy of the "innovation economy". One poster there even pointed out that if the iPod can not be a net positive for the US economy then nothing can.

love the apple slant on these posts...i mean i understand its an apple blog but how about a modicum of integrity!

"sold NO MORE than 800,000"

"apple by contrast as sold AT LEAST"

"starting with the ones that offer the best reading experience...apparently that was the iphone..."

no wonder the masses write pro-mac'ers off as zealots..

ex ped: Didn't mean to slant those numbers. It's just that the best estimate of Kindle sales is 700,000 or so and that report of iPhone sales is a few weeks old.
