I’m long AAPL but it would be stupid to not take advantage of the sell off yesterday. oops, I meant this morning, it's been a long day.

Once again, thank you, iDiot AAPL investors for handing me your hard earned money... in @149 this morning, I'm thinking of selling the same number of shares at round 162 tomorrow morning. Maybe wait a little longer to 164, rounding it to $15 a share. I'm long AAPL but it would be stupid to not take advantage of the sell off yesterday.

Here's the reason GM is lower...Peter: For future gross margins: we’re not looking for a margin so high that it creates an “umbrella” for competitors to sneak in and steal market from Apple. Beyond September, expect gross margins about 30% in 2009.

AAPL selloff today at open, down over 9%. Thanks to the many idiot AAPL sellers, I was able to buy more @ 149 at open.

As for ped, I think you did a good job of covering the call. One thing: Apple is on track to have 242 stores, not 288 at the end of the year.

As for anonymous, why doesn't the Street grow a brain and recognize what Apple's guidance means instead of selling off like idiots? Fool me once ... Well Apple's been "fooling" them for years - where does the shame and blame go?

The ASPs are down because Apple is taking the costs of the "buy a Mac, get an iPod touch promotion" off of revenue (both Mac and iPod). Apple has done this 3 years in a row, so the lower ASPs have little to do with being "not immune to economic meltdown."

Unless it's the health issue, the people selling off on guidance are truly ignoring the finer points of the conference call. Apple is after market share big time (i.e. establishing the OS X and Touch platforms) and will lower margins (which have grown to 36% in past quarters) back down to 30% to get it.

I think Oppenheimer and his cohorts are arrogant bastards who don't care about investors. This game they play every quarter with their "conservative" guidance destroyed the stock price today and severely damaged NASDAQ futures for tomorrow. During the conference call they practically gloated over how well the company is doing in all product lines, yet refused to acknowledge an honest, realistic guidance that reflects the advantageous business conditions they described orally. They knew what the stock market was expecting in terms of guidance, yet refused to go there. Their stubbornness may make them feel clever but was a great disservice to all investors.

the margins going up don't reflect aggressive discounting over the quarter, selling 2.5m units in the environment seems remarkable. I can't think of anyone in software or electronics doing that on this scale. not to say they aren't planning on lower ASPs with the dramatically lowered margin guidance. Apple is more than Steve, but it looks like that is that matters in the short term. He's not going to be around forever no matter what happens - the good news is he's given them a platform that they're going to have to try hard not to exploit.

Thankfully, nobody gives a damn about your "guess" Mr. Dubai. Go inflate the price of a barrel of crude or something you actually know a little about.
