Weird. Jim Goldman at CNBC is reporting 425k, and 1 million apps downloaded. Apple is saying 1 million units, and 10 million apps downloaded. WTF?

ex ped: Goldman's report was based on Gene Munster's initial estimate early Monday morning. Munster posted a revised report after Apple issued its press release.

Apple would have sold 2 million 3G iPhones but the Apple and Carrier stores sold out by Sunday morning. They will likely sell out for a few more weeks. Apple didn’t expect the huge web traffic from the Apps Store that is why the servers crashed. Apple needs more servers because they will sell more iPhones. Most iPhone purchases are from non-USA sales. They've waited a year for the iPhone.

Wow…hard to believe even Gene didn't have the numbers high enough for this BLOCKBUSTER product launch. He's not typically cautious when it comes to Apple.
