I too suffer from a rare pancreatic malady that includes a "hardened pancreas" with tumor inside the "head of the pancreas" and mass on the outside. The diagnosis of pancreatic tumors are lengthy. As I recover from a recent gall bladder removal (to further protect my liver).

I wondered why it took so long for the final diagnosis and watched my active lifestyle deteriorate and practically evaporate. Thinking on what could be done for others in the future I came up with an idea (or maybe the pain made me thnk). Please bare with me a few moments, because my comments may take a few momemnt to absorb, or digest (inside pancreatic humor).

Has the medical field of science and/or professionals ever considered using mathematical formulas/ tables to expedite diagnosing such serious illnesses?

Has anyone ever played the electronic version of the "20 Questions game"? Can Mr. Jobs use his talented group of professionals to develop a "20 Questions version" for physicians to use in their offices and detect life threatening ailments, such as pancreatic tumors in an expeditious manner? Let me provide an example

Is the patient's glucose level high? Are Keytones high? etc.

I know it sounds pretty elementary, but it could potentially save lives. I wish someone would, or at least consider this as a resource/tool for the medical profession and assist patients from experiencing a decline in health while waiting for additonal symptoms, and/or ailments to appear.

Thanks for not laughing out loud.

I have read the articles on Steve's health recently. They caught my eye because my husband became ill in March 2004. The doctors could not understand how he was losing red clood cells. After 3 blood transfusions during 2004 and an operation to take out his spleen and the tip of his pancreas (along with several lymph nodes) in Mar 2005 (a yr later) it was discovered there was a malignant tumor in his spleen. The pathologist report indicated it was a pancreatic neuroendocrine tumor (carcinoid). We were told they are slow growing tumors. Unfortunately, the cancer spread to his liver. We were referred to Dana Farbar in Boston. With the help of the doctor there and our local oncologist in Syracuse NY, my husband reached out to the professionals. He went thru a few hepatic artery chemoembolization treatments to his liver, monthly sandostatin shots, zometa (shots for his bones) and oral chemo (Temodar). The bottom line is intervenous chemo was never an option, since these tumors do not respond to that type of treatment. My husband wanted a good quality of life. which we believed he had the last 5 yrs.

To Steve, have faith because there is research and studies going on for this type of cancer. My husband figured as long as there were drugs or treatments that helped keep the tumors from growing, that he would take advanatge of them. He hoped there would be that one drug that would stop the growth and spread of this disease and more importantly shrink the tumors.

We took a trip to Maine on our goldwing with several friends in July 2008, he played golf, we took family vacations, and he worked right up to 1/9/09.

Never give up. Always stay positive.

I imagine many "healing suggestions" and responses are flooding in for Steve. I just learned of concern for him through an email from a raw foodist.

I can speak from many levels about this. I had pancreatic cancer myself a few years ago. I no longer have it. I have actually been helping others heal major health issues all my life. I was born with this ability and my largest challenge was working with myself in regard to this innate healing ability, especially when I got sick myself. I have helped countless people over the course of my life.

I felt urged from within this morning to put these words "out there"...as I was online looking at a new imac and iphone, when I simultaneously received an email from a raw foodist who is trying to attract Steve's attention to get him to eat raw and "save his life". He is purchasing a huge ad in some well known publication. I love his enthusiasm, and feel his aim is misguided.

Well, one thing I know FOR SURE is that you can do anything and everything out there (and there is a lot!)- through diet, doctors, western medicine, alternative medicine, alternative treatments, etc... however - when it comes right down to it you can never actually heal a condition at the level it was created. There is always a cause for EVERYTHING. When the actual cause (which is usually something that the linear mind does not understand) is released, all symptoms are released instantly as well.

I know the hopeless yo-yo that so many people feel in their attempt to heal their health. Especially after you just "healed" or "fixed" a major health issue and then more and more health challenges begin to emerge. No matter what you attempt to do, even working with "energy healers," alternative doctors, alternative treatments, surgery, etc....they just simply do not have the capacity or ability to reach and release the cause of the condition.

I stand in a unique position to say these things because I can show anyone through their own experiences how they actually have the power to heal any situation/illness of their lives. I can show you how. It is almost always instant and always permanent. It is very simple. May you be inspired to really LIVE your life to the fullest.
The business press has performed dismally in reporting on Steve Jobs' illness. Apple's co-founder does not have pancreatic cancer he had a neuroendocrine tumor "NET" that was located on the islet cells of his pancreas. As a Carcinoid Cancer/NET survivor and activist, this is a very important distinction. I have neuroendocrine tumors on my liver, but I do not have liver cancer. My chances for survival and tretments are substantially different from someone with liver cancer, just as Mr. Jobs' prospects and treatments are not the same as people with pancreatic cancer.

For more information on Carcinoid and other NETs, interested readers should go to the Carcinoid Cancer Foundation website at www.carcinoid.org. In addition, they can read the Journal of the National Cancer Institute which published a commentary on "Priorities for Improving the Management of Gastroenteropancreatic Neuroendocrine Tumors" in September, 2008 (http://jnci.oxfordjournals.org/cgi/content/abstract/100/18/1282).

NETs are exceedingly rare, and Jobs would not be the first NET patient to be mistakenly informed that they had been "cured" by surgery. While his current health problems could be the result of something completely different than the resurgence of his NET, from a distance, his symptoms; hormonal imbalance, loss of weight, are consistant with the symptons caused by NETs. Jobs may not be able to say any more than he has already said, because neither he, nor medical science knows that much about NETs.

I hope that Steve Jobs recovers his health and is able to return to work. But, seriously, the problem from the perspective of the business is not that Jobs has been ill, but that he's perceived as the be-all and end-all of Apple. Someone should always be able to step in for the CEO as seamlessly as possible.
