David, you are very welcome. While I was testing the Gen 1.0 iPhone for you for the past year, I'll bring you up to date of what I discovered. With this phone I have been able to spend much more time OUT of the office traveling, skiing, snowmobiling and boating, all the while keeping in contact with my office and all the information I need to make all the money I make. But, David, I suggest you wait and allow me to test Gen 2.0 for a year before you take the plunge. If you wait for Gen 3.0, the price may be lower for you, no sense spending all your annual allowance in one shot for a Gen 2.0 iPhone, as surely something better will come along next year.

As an O2 user, I think that this deal alone is enough to guarantee Apple their 10M iPhones by the end of the year. I think they could easily get 50% of the 6M shipped again giving them 9M without having to lower the general price more than they want.

Its brilliant for us existing users (I have four people fighting over who gets the old phone) plus I get GPS and 3G.

And Apple gets 3M people older iPhones in the hands of people who wouldn't have gone out and bought them anyway but who will no doubt soon be saving up for the new models.

I received the email offer, and immediately registered for the offer with O2s website, by iPhone, from a gate at CdeG airport. Do that on a Nokia 95.

those of us with v1 iPhones will be able to sell ours for far more than we paid and upgrade to iPhone 3G. Nothing like getting to use an iPhone for a year and not having to pay for it!

David, David, David. You know, most of us buy vehicles even though we know that there are going to be newer models in the near future. It all depends on what you want at the time. If $200 keeps you from buying something that you want right now because you want to wait out the next model then you probably can't afford it anyway and you posted your response from the library because you can't afford your own computer either.

Please!.. There's always a better and newer toy around and if you just sit and wait for it to come you'll never get anything. I love my iPhone and I'm not sorry I bought it 4 month ago.

Why do I have to read some smarmy insult to the author for almost every comment before I get to the meat of the response?

People, we are not stupid, we dont need someone else to tell us when a story is biased. Just leave a constructive comment and let the readers decide what is or isnt crap journalism.
