I personally think Apple is way better!!

i've luckily have had a dell and now i have an apple and i'm drawn thousand times more the mac!! dell sucks! so much yet it might be reasonable why dell is worth more than jobs because way before apple became more successful dell was already selling millions! but in recent years apple is more successful yet apples are triple as dells they are better quality and better performance and dells break down so fast they are worth nothin!! they only last a while after that they run super slow and they are all filed up with viruses!

SO make an investment and buy apples they are way better! as an apple user i recommend apples!!

i like to compare it as a toyota to a mercedes!!

dell being the toyota and apple the mercedes!

can't go wrong with an apple so buy it!!

I am continually surprised that the most solid argument that PC users wield in defense of their belief of PC greatness is one based on market share. PC's must be better, they whine, because they account for some 92% of sales in this medium. It is this attitude that has made McDonald's the #1 restaurant in the world, American Idol the most popular show in the country, Brittany Spears the most googled person online, The Backstreet Boys one of the biggest "musical groups" of all time, Wal-Mart the largest retailer on the planet, Oprah Winfrey the most respected media mogul on television, FOX news the most dominant "news" agency around, "Scary Movie" one of the most profitable movie franchises in history, George Bush the President, Budweiser the top selling beer around, and Microsoft the largest purveyor of filth in the universe. Market share doesnt have jack to do with superiority. Product reliability, integration, design, and stability are the only things that count. And the complaints about pricing as well...that Apple is somehow conceited for believing that people would pay as much as they do for their product...well, they do, they will, and they will remain happy to do so. Because we all know that we get what we pay for. And I will be more than happy to shell out for an Aston Martin Vanquish: all you other suckers can drive all the Yugos you want.

"Gumby: To say “the only thing apple did was the lousy Ipod and Iphone” is like saying “the only thing the Wright brothers did was the lousy airplane”…

Posted By Scott, Los Angeles"

Seriously? Applefans never cease to amaze me with their ridiculous comparisons. iPhone/iPod = Invention of Flight? Come on you don't really believe that do you Scott? Wright brothers were the first to acheive sustained flight - Apple was not the first to market the MP3 player or the cellphone. What Apple does best it know it's market and appeal to it.

If price and market share was all that mattered, then the Commodore 64 would still be reigning king in the home computer market today. Let us not forget that Commodore held over 75% of the home computer market in the mid '80s and no other company has even come close to that success as a single computer company. While Commodore 64s sold for less than $300; PCs and Macs sold for well over $1000 (even Commodore Amigas sold for less than PCs and Macs and had a lot more computing power). Commodore tried 3 times to pull the plug on the C64, but its popularity kept it alive for well over a decade. The point here is: price and market share are obviously not always taken into consideration when making a computer purchase or we'd all be using those famous C64s today.

In short... Commodore can take most of (if not all) the credit for bringing computing to the masses; not Microsoft or Dell!

If all of us were geeks like some of you commentators then Dell would have been doing great. These days, it is not market share that matters but Mind Share. Mind share is only achieved when a brand can create a great and relevant consumer experience. If business is about making money, then which one is better and easier, make a penny each on one hundred people or make a dollar each on two people? You be the judge.

John Goyeau's analogy of cars and computers was spot on! There is a community of people whose entire IT career is super-glued to Microsoft. They can't admit that change is imminent, because they don't know how (although they are slowly beginning to realize that time is running out). I have met some people who are such excessive MS cheerleaders, they might as well be on Microsoft's payroll. That's understandable when the product is truly brilliant, but when they ignore the downtime, viruses, complexity, and hidden cost, their bias is on display for all to see.

I have owned everything from a 1981 TRS-80, various PCs, and now a 2008 MacBook. At the high end, Macs beat PCs on functionality for about the same price. I use a PC at work, but only because I have to. The Mac is a personal choice. People who honestly try both are not going to choose a PC very often.

At the low end, Asus EEE and the new genre of cheapie Linux lightweight notebooks is going to eat Dell's lunch.

As much as Dell and HP think about escaping the clutches of Microsoft, their current revenue stream effectively stops them from doing what the rest of the industry will do first.

Microsoft is unable to compete with Apple on the high end or Linux on the low end. Consumers are going to abandon Microsoft's middle ground, which is becoming increasingly mediocre.

To put a different spin on Mr. Goyeau's car analogy: Kia is making plenty of money. So is BMW. I think of Microsoft as the equivalent of GM or Ford -- stuck in the middle with no place to go.
