What I as both a personal and corporate consumer would like to hear is what Dell has done about their service. EVERY PC manufacturer, including Apple, has many horror stories posted on the Web about computers that don't work and the long struggle to get them functioning. A PC company that could over come this would be a major marketing coup!

Comparing Dell to Apple is silly. Apple has a history of market/product innovation. Dell has....historically a 1 trick pony around direct sales and supply chain management. So they are now going to sell direct. Big deal.

<i>"Dell is the No. 1 PC seller in the U.S., it’s No. 2 globally — a decent position in an expanding market."</I>

Too bad Dell is the only major PC seller who isn't gaining market share. HP, Lenovo, Acer, and even Apple are ringing up double digit unit sales growth while Dell barely breaks even.

But that's OK. Buy Dell, it's easier than thinking,

jf: People said the same thing about Apple a few years back, Bob. Look how that turned out.
