Apple 1984 ad recast as a Barack Obama 2008 pitch

Hillaryyoutube

Many of us remember that classic Apple (AAPL) 1984 ad in which a woman hurls a hammer into the face of totalitarianism – a dig at IBM (IBM). Well, here's a sign of the political times: Someone has redone the ad with Sen. Hillary Clinton in the place of IBM and Sen. Barack Obama's campaign in the place of Apple. On YouTube, versions of the ad have been viewed more than 1 million times.

Have a look:

This represents a new technology front in the political races. Expect to see a lot more user-generated campaign ads popping up on YouTube, and getting plenty of news coverage in the process. (Obama's campaign says it had nothing to do with the ad.)

It's only natural that we see this happening with video. Remember Howard Dean's infamous scream from the last presidential campaign cycle?

That resulted in lots of "remixes," where creative folks out there set it to music. This is the age of video – and social networking. So brace yourself.

Alas, even Usha got it wrong (I point this out as a life-long Dem, too) when s/he said, "I think that the stellar grammar and spelling of the previous two comments sums up the education levels of Republicans quite nicely. Now please excuse me, I have to go eat my balogne."

Looks like Oscar Mayer should reprieve their famous commercial: "My bologna has a first name it's O-S-C-A-R, my bologna has a second name it's M-A-Y-E-R, Ooh, I love to eat it everyday and if you ask me why I'll say, cause Oscar Mayer has a way with B-O-L-O-G-N-A."

Boy could that kid spell. ;-)

Apple updated the 1984 commercial three years ago for the 20th annniversary of the Mac, and put an iPod on the hammer thrower.

That's not an Ipod you moron. That's a 23 transistor sister AM radio. That's all we had in 1984. Where were you? I'm a ham radio operator, K5ZC, and I should know. Besides, it was only two years before that I starred in the movie Tron. I was great in that movie. Too bad Disney only paid me $36,000 for the whole movie. That's why I refused to make Tron II in 1984. In 1984 is when my all time favorite –Boy George and Culture Club- released Karma Chameleon. I remember 1984 well. I miss the good times we had in those days –Jay Maynard the Tronguy

here's the interesting thing about the "1984" ad, the girl throwing the hammer has an IPOD attached to her waist band. How's this possible if the ad was shot back in '84???

"Obama's campaign says it had absolutely nothing to do with the video that attacks one of his principal Democratic rivals, New York Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton. Indeed, the ad's creator is a mystery, at least for now."

I think that the stellar grammar and spelling of the previous two comments sums up the education levels of Republicans quite nicely.

Now please excuse me, I have to go eat my balogne sandwich for lunch now. Hopefully I don't insult qualified woman in very cheap way while I do.
